NEWS FLASH!

Did anyone else hear that Tiki Barber is retiring? If you turned on the TV this weekend, you had to have heard it. Gees. You would have thought that the guy had won 6 Super Bowls, saved a child from a burning car being submerged in a lake AND maintained a 100% faithful marriage to his wife for the last 3 decades the way that they went on...and on...and on...and on...and on about this on any and all sports shows, football games or Law & Order episodes.

Every time Tiki touched the ball, sprained a finger ("Oh, will that be last play of his professional career now that he has injured himself?" Yes, a sprained finger usually keeps NFL players out of the last EIGHT games of the regular season), had his ankle taped, walked on the field or when the people at Outback lite the tiki torches...some moron announcer said "Tiki has made it clear that he is retiring at the end of the season." Followed up with another moron announcer saying, "I don't know if there's any talking him out of it, Bob." "I just don't think Tiki knows how much he's going to miss football, Jerome." "Yeah, he wants to go into TV, Bob." "Yeah, but he doesn't realize how much less fun TV is than playing football."

Really? You don't think he doesn't realize that? If the guy wants to retire, let him retire - why are commentators getting into fights over whether or not he should? Barber wants to be able to walk in his middle age, and play with his kids...how many former NFL players can say that they can do that??

Oh gees, let him retire - and stop talking about it!
